World's smallest Gita now in store @ Kathana Jewellers

The blog had been silent for some time now. But we have been continuously working to introduce new products. The latest offering is a technological marvel. A beautiful cross fertilization of ideas from chip designing to fulfilling spirituality.

Introducing! The world's smallest Gita. The crystal tablet is all of 1 cm square in size and has all the 18 chapters and 700 shlokas of the holiest hindu book in 24 karat pure gold.To be able to wear it the tablet is set in various pendent designs.

There are variations of other holy texts like Ganesh Arti and Hanuman Chalisa is available in one pendent. Gayatri mantra repeated 108 times is another one. Vishnu and Lakshmi sahastranaam is yet another variation. The crystals tablets are priced at Rs.4100 and the pendents start from Rs.9250 uptil Rs.14,000. They are truly a unique gift idea in gold.

Behind this unique product is a team of MIT professors and passionate people here in Delhi India. You can read about the team at www.prakashcenter.org. But the reason for coming up with this idea is what takes the cake.

The team at Prakash centre is committed to help children, visually impaired, to be able to see again. Most of the proceeds from this venture goes into funding this extremely novel initiative. And they have already helped scores of children see better.

The Great Chain Festival - May 20th - June 20th

Summer is upon us and the thunderstorms and squalls might provide some relief but delhites know better. Fortunately Gold hasnt take a cue from the searing weather of Delhi. Gold hasnt breached the Rs.12,000 mark for 22k in quite some weeks now. So, you can say that we are celebrating that.

I have been wanting to write this post before the recent drop in gold prices but time not permitting, I kept procrastinating till now. With the current gold prices its never too late I guess.

SO here I am aggregating 5 ways to save money if gold purchasing is on the agenda:

2)14k Gold: Jewellery ornaments made in 14K contain less gold. I mentioned all the virtues of going for low caratage in your jewellery here.

3) Chains minus the weight: You can find a lot of very heavy looking chains which are actually hollow. "A lot of chains are being made hollow and the reduction in weight is compensating for the rise in gold prices," said Roy Lynch, director of Strictly Gold.

Italian Chains are known for their impeccable finish and vast array of designs. These chains have been very popular among the local market in India for long. So much so that now manufacturers in Mumbai have started making them in India.

These chains are crafted in 18K gold which are BIS hallmarked. The making charges for these vary from Rs.180/gram to Rs.350/gram. These can be used as daily wear chains with the more stylish reserved for formal events and vary from Rs.10,000 to Rs. 25,000. Oh! and they make a great gift idea.

Sometimes our customers drive us to come up with innovative ways to design jewellery which are glamorous yet elegant, stylish yet practical and serve more than one purpose. Recently one of our customer came in with a special request: She wanted a piece of jewellery which could be used in more ways than one. Now, I don't say that this was the first time something like this was being done, but the way finished product turned out it sure felt like multipurpose jewellery is the way to go!
Showcased here is the picture of a pendant cum ring.The attachments given along show the ease with which you can switch from one look to another in less than 30 seconds.

Here, the main body of the jewellery is a flower shaped pattern in gold embedded with diamonds and rubies. With it is a ring and a pendent hook which easily screws into the main body.

Complete it with a pair of matching earrings and you are all set for a super-glam look with a large chunky ring, or you can settle for a toned down, feminine look with your flowery pendant.
